Meet the Team
Dr. Harry Grossman was born and raised in Cherry Hill, NJ. He received his undergraduate degree from Brandeis University, graduating magna cum laude, in 1989. He attended medical school at Jefferson Medical College and served as president of the Thomas Duane Ophthalmology Society. He then worked as a resident in Ophthalmology at Hahnemann University Hospital, where he completed his training as chief resident. Over the last 20 years he has often been voted as a Top Doc in Philadelphia Magazine, SJ Magazine and New Jersey Monthly Magazine.
Dr. Grossman has been a general ophthalmologist in the Marlton area since 1998. He is currently a staff member at The Wills Eye Hospital. He performs cataract, glaucoma and numerous laser surgeries at The Wills Eye Surgical Center of Cherry Hill. He has published research articles investigating ocular surface diseases and macular blood flow. As an active member of the New Jersey Academy of Ophthalmology he has testified before the New Jersey State Assembly in the past advocating to ensure patients’ quality of care. He currently serves on the Board of Trustees of the Boys and Girls Club of Camden County, the Board of Trustees of BookSmiles and has previously served on the Board of Governors of the New Jersey Academy of Ophthalmology. He is currently on staff at Virtua and Cooper Hospitals.
Some of his interests outside of the office include photography, cycling and music. Dr. Grossman and his wife, Dr. Ilene Grossman, have three children.

Dr. Charles Glass is a board-certified ophthalmologist who has been caring for patients at Garden State Eye Physicians his entire career. He specializes in cataract surgery using advanced-technology intraocular lens implants. He is also well-trained in minimally invasive glaucoma procedures, as well as numerous laser procedures for glaucoma. As a comprehensive ophthalmologist, he diagnoses and treats most conditions which affect the eye including refractive error, dry eye, chalazion and eyelid lesions, macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy. He operates at the Wills Eye Surgery Center in Cherry Hill, NJ and the Memorial Ambulatory Surgery Center in Lumberton, NJ. Dr. Glass is on staff at Virtua and Cooper University Hospitals, and was voted as a Top Doctor in 2020 by New Jersey TopDocs.
Dr. Glass was born and raised in Emporium, PA, and attended the University of Pennsylvania and Jefferson Medical College. He was a neuroscience major and has always had an interest in neurodegenerative diseases and how they affect the eye. As an undergraduate, he performed cutting-edge Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s disease research, which he published in leading scientific journals. He also worked at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, where he published his research in Schizophrenia and Bipolar Disorder. At Jefferson, Dr. Glass focused his research on glioblastoma multiforme and optic nerve gliomas, and was a member of the Thomas Duane Ophthalmology Society. He graduated near the top of his class and went on to complete his ophthalmology residency at Brown University. During his time at Brown, Dr. Glass was awarded the Most Valuable Consultant Award, which is given to the top consult resident across all hospital specialties. He also served as chief resident during his final year and was an ambassador for ophthalmology interests on a national level at the mid-year forum in Washington, D.C.
Dr. Glass is also fluent in Spanish and spent several months working at the University of Cordoba in Argentina. He loves speaking Spanish to his patients when he has the opportunity. In his free time, he is an avid runner and loves exercising as well as grilling, eating spicy food, camping, and spending time with his wife Marcia and two daughters.

Dr. Debra Malley received her undergraduate degree from Boston University in 1986. She graduated magna cum laude as a distinguished Commonwealth Scholar, and was inducted into the Alpha Epsilon Delta Honor Society that same year. She received her medical degree from Boston University School of Medicine in 1990. While Dr. Malley was a medical student she also served as a clinical researcher at the Laser Research Laboratory at The Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary. During her years at the Laser Research Laboratory that she published numerous studies on corneal refractive excimer laser surgery.
After completing an internship and residency in Pediatrics at Cornell University Medical Center in New York City, Dr. Malley remained at Cornell to complete her residency training in ophthalmology, after which she was board certified in both Pediatrics and Ophthalmology. Dr. Malley has dedicated her surgical expertise to specializing in refractive surgery and has been performing LASIK since 1996. Dr. Malley is now one of the most experienced and skilled refractive surgeons in South Jersey. She resides in Marlton, NJ with and her husband Dr. Frank Trudo and their daughter.

Dr. Peter Perno was born and raised in Medford, NJ. He received his undergraduate degree from Purdue University in Indiana in 2010. During his time at Purdue, he participated in research pertaining to avian visual systems and development. Dr. Perno then attended the Pennsylvania College of Optometry at Salus University where he received his Doctorate in 2016 and received clinical honors during his rotations in pediatrics and ocular disease. Following graduation, he continued his education with the New England College of Optometry while completing an optometric residency with the Providence Veterans Affairs Medical Center specializing in ocular disease.
Dr. Perno joins Advocare Garden State Eye Physicians as a comprehensive optometrist providing primary eye care while also managing ocular disease and pathology, contact lens exams, low vision exams, and co-management of pre/post surgical care. Additionally, he performs specialized contact lens fittings in management of keratoconus and other corneal disorders.
Staying close to his roots, Dr. Perno currenlty resides in Medford, New Jersey. Some of his interests include golfing, recreation sports, and traveling.

Peter Perno OD

Dr. Victoria Ries received her Bachelor of Science and Philosophy degree in Rehabilitation Science from the University of Pittsburgh, graduating from the Honors College, Summa Cum Laude. She went on to attend New England College of Optometry where she was inducted into the Optometric honors society, Beta Sigma Kappa. During her four years in Optometry school, Dr. Ries completed internships at the Philadelphia Veterans Affairs Medical Center and the Providence Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Dr. Ries graduated Summa Cum Laude in 2012 and continued her education in ocular pathology by completing an Optometric residency at the Philadelphia Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
Dr. Ries has spent the last 8 years practicing primary care optometry with a focus on ocular disease. During this time, she also performed low vision exams, co-managed post-operative cataract patients and provided specialty contact lens fittings.
Dr. Ries practiced 4 years with Garden State Eye Physicians and Surgeons and after 3 years away she is thrilled to be back providing comprehensive ophthalmic care for the Garden State community. Dr. Ries currently resides in Philadelphia, PA with her husband.

Victoria Ries OD

Dr. Paul Johnson is a board-certified ophthalmologist with subspecialty training in cosmetic and reconstructive oculoplastic surgery. He performs facial rejuvenation procedures including upper and lower eyelid blepharopasty (eyelid lift/contouring), brow lifts, Botox injections, soft tissue fillers (Radiesse/Juvederm/Restylane), and chemical peels with meticulous attention to detail.
Dr. Johnson is also skilled in reconstructive oculoplastics including ptosis repair, excision and reconstruction of eyelid skin cancer, orbital decompression surgery, repair of orbital fractures, eye socket reconstruction, management of facial nerve paralysis (Bell’s palsy), blocked tear duct repair (dacryocystorhinostomy), ectropion and entropion repair, management of thyroid eye disease, enucleation and evisceration surgery, and the repair of orbital, eyelid, and tear duct trauma.
He attended Johns Hopkins University and Jefferson Medical College. He completed his ophthalmology residency at the prestigious New York Eye & Ear Infirmary, and his oculoplastics fellowship at the top-rated Wills Eye Institute. He has authored multiple publications and has been actively involved in teaching future ophthalmologists at both New York Eye & Ear and Wills Eye Institute.
